It’s been a while since I’ve done one of my colour style guides, and with the holiday season upon us, I thought it would be a perfect time to share some of my favourite ways to wear bright tomato red. This is one of those colours that I find difficult to wear, though, just because it is so bold and sometimes seems like too much of a “statement.” But I love it, and I’ve challenged myself to wear it more often. RED + BLACK + WHITE Black trench coat - Old Navy Red blouse - Old Navy Black and white stripe skirt - Old Navy Tights - Penningtons Black ankle boots - thrifted/gifted This is such a classic colour combination, though it is definitely a bold way of wearing red. If you follow my crafty blog, Paisley Rose Blog, you’ll know that I’ve put myself on a bit of a spending ban for December. By that, I mean I’m not spending money on myself for the month, and that includes craft goodies as well as fashion. So instead of shopping, I’ve just been browsing. I’ve found a bunch of stuff that caught my eye, so I’ve compiled a couple of wishlists. Last week I posted my crafty wishlist on the other blog, but this week is all about clothing and accessories that I wish I could buy. (Maybe if they go on sale in January. Heh.) I’ve divided my wishlist into two themes: cozy and shiny. Both of which seem appropriate for this time of year. COZY WISHLIST Black and houndstooth ombre coat - Ricki's White check blanket . . .
Back in October, we visited my boyfriend’s family for Thanksgiving weekend — I’m Canadian, so Thanksgiving is in October for me — and we stayed a bit longer than we would on a typical weekend. Four days instead of three. Not a huge difference, but it did mean I had to pack a few more things. For a typical weekend away, I usually wear one outfit for the trip up, and pack a couple extra tops for the next two days, but I wanted a bit more variety for this trip, since it was a little longer. Similar to when I pack for a long trip, I picked a couple of colours to be my focus, in this case pink and blue, and added black as my neutral.
